Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a complex and chronic pain disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and tenderness in specific tender points on the body. Its exact cause is unknown, but it’s believed to involve a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Common symptoms of fibromyalgia include sleep disturbances, cognitive issues (often referred to as “fibro fog”), headaches, and irritable bowel syndrome. It predominantly affects women and often co-occurs with conditions like depression and anxiety. Managing fibromyalgia typically involves a multidisciplinary approach, combining medications (pain relievers, antidepressants), lifestyle modifications (regular exercise, stress management, sleep improvement), and physical therapy. While there’s no cure, many individuals with fibromyalgia can lead fulfilling lives with proper symptom management.
